What is Galvanised Aluminium Magnesium?
Galvanised aluminium magnesium (often branded as Galvalume™ or ZAM®) is a high-performance coated steel. Made by coating a steel sheet with an alloy of zinc (Zn), aluminium (Al), and magnesium (Mg), it forms a protective layer that offers far greater corrosion resistance than standard galvanisation, which relies on zinc alone.
Common Composition:
- Zinc (Zn): ~90–95%
- Aluminum (Al): ~5–11%
- Magnesium (Mg): ~1–3%
Key Features:
- Superior corrosion resistance — highly effective against salt spray and harsh marine or industrial environments.
- Enhanced durability — magnesium helps slow corrosion at cut edges and scratches.
- Extended lifespan — lasts longer than standard galvanised steel or Zn–Al coated alternatives.
- Excellent workability — easy to bend, stamp, or weld, just like conventional coated steel.
Accessories Compatibility: When it comes to accessorising, you’re in safe hands. Our new Elements Range has been carefully designed to work seamlessly with all of our existing Core Accessories, giving you the freedom to upgrade, customise and expand your outdoor setup with confidence.
Please note: The only exception is the Elements 3.6 m × 4 m Steel Pergola, which is not entirely compatible with Core pergola accessories. While the height is the same, the side lengths differ, so accessories will not fit fully across this model.

Additional Building Information:
In some cases, a building or resource consent may be needed. Building work related to porches and verandas up to 20 square meters generally does not require a building consent. However, it's important to note that local councils may have specific requirements or restrictions. We recommend checking with your local council authorities for further information and guidance before installation if needed. Especially for pergolas over 20 square metres or if you are considering building close to load-bearing walls.
Warranty Exclusions:
This structure is a non-permanent structure and warranty does not cover fading or damage incurred due to extreme weather exposure (including heavy rain, winds, exposure to high heat from bbqs and heaters). It also does not cover damage to the pergola caused by negligence, accident or misuse. Please follow the instruction manual for installation as damage caused by not following the instructions will void your warranty.
Warranty covers domestic use only and does not apply to commercial use. However, we will do our best to help with any issues or replacements parts.
