Designed early in Gianfranco Frattini's career, this streamlined sofa evokes the poetic minimalism of 1950s modernism. The now-iconic Italian design has been updated for contemporary audiences, with a sumptuous wool-blend fabric in creamy ivory and black metal legs. Structurally held together by exquisite walnut side panels, the geometry is true to the original—down to the brass snake-eye bolts. Meant to be read from the side, its full beauty becomes apparent in profile. Called Model 836 at the time of its debut, the sofa received a mention at the prestigious Compasso d'Oro awards in 1955 and remains a noteworthy choice today.
